Cyclist stops in Sudbury during epic journey

Arie Hoogerbrugge certainly knows his way around a bicycle, and is more than adept at navigating Canada’s highways from the seat of his two-wheeler.

The 47-year-old Grimsby native completed a 6,500-kilometre trek across the northwestern part of the country back in 2011, and is now more than 5,500 into a truly epic journey that will see him head across much of the nation again, before travelling south, all the way to the tip of Argentina.

Yet Hoogerbrugge, who braced himself against rain and wind on his way through Greater Sudbury this past weekend, says he isn’t all that big on road biking, at least not for its own sake.
